Childrens Sleeping Bag

Thanks for checking out childrenssleepingbag.org.  Here you will find lots of information on childrens sleeping bags, kids bags and growbags.

There are lots of good reasons for you to make sure your children have a sleeping bag in the linen cupboard. A sleeping bag is a versatile and useful item to have around the house. A childrens sleeping bag can be used when the unexpected guest stays over, or on a camping trip with the school, or on the family vacation. A childrens sleeping bag can be useful for that late night movie on a cold winter’s evening; it can even be used in the car on long trips, as long as the seatbelt remains in its proper position. A childrens sleeping bag can be used as a spare blanket or a throw on the lounge.

There are a large number of uses that can be had with a sleeping bag. In fact they are so useful, you will find that you collect a few as your kids grow older. It is not uncommon to have a few children sleeping bags, to suit a range of ages of children and different requirements. And when it comes to packing the family up for the annual holiday, it is a lot easier to throw in a few sleeping bags than packing sheets and blankets and quilts.

If you are looking at getting a new sleeping bag, there are a couple of options you have to consider as you look for the right sleeping bag for you and your needs. The first question you need to ask is what is the purpose for the bag? Are you looking for a “slumber” bag – for internal home or backyard use, or are you looking for an “adventure” bag – a high quality camping accessory that will keep your child warm in the coldest of environs, and be used outside the house.

A slumber bag is a common term used to describe a sleeping bag that is primarily for domestic or indoror use. They are of course a fun thing for children to call their own, with lots of vibrant colours and designs available. Many of the cheaper ones are decked out in the latest cartoon character or movie character. Buzz Lightyear from Toy story is a perennial favourite, as is Winnie the Pooh, Dora and Elmo as well as Cars, Spiderman, Superman and the Hulk.  The range of popular kids’ culture designs is quite remarkable. Princess designs are popular amongst the younger girls, and Barbie, Hannah Montana and Bratz are popular brands that young girls love.  You name your childs favourite characters, and it is likely that a slumber bag can be found in that style.

The slumber bag is typically lightweight, of poorer construction than the camping variety, and suitable for a range on internal uses and possible a warm summer’s night in the tent that has been set up in the backyard. This style of sleeping bag is not meant to protect you from the elements, rather to offer basic comfort to the level of a single blanket. The filling is likely to be synthetic, but adequate.

If your family enjoys camping, or your child attends scout camps or regular outdoor activities, a quality sleeping bag, suitable for that task, is a good investment.  Camping is one of life’s great activities, connecting with the outdoors, doing things a little rough, and relying on your own resources. It is a challenge these days to get the kids to put the laptop or the Playstation or the mobile phone down. Camping offers a way for children to experience some time connecting with nature, without everything laid out for them and requiring a bit of effort. The dishes have to be washed, the tent is a bit risky when it rains and the bedding is comfortable but it is in the ground!

It is important that you have adequate sleeping equipment. A central to that is having a quality childrens sleeping bag with the correct thermal rating.

I have four girls so all their sleeping bags are covered in some crazy Dora or Disney princess artwork. We got the synthetically insulated ones because of the weight.

I was browsing around the other day and I saw what’s called a ready bed. Essentially it’s a sleeping bag with an inflatable mattress. I’ll probably get four of these eventually because four seperate mattresses would be better than 6 people sleeping on two large mattresses.

They also come in all sorts of themed character designs to keep the little ones happy.
